On the 34th anniversary of the assassination and martyrdom of the Kurdish legend Dr Abdel Rahman Qasemlu

The Kurdistan Diaspora Confederation issues a statement on the 34th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Abdulrahman Qasimlo and his friends. In this sad commemoration, they extend their greetings and respects to the martyrs of Dr. Qasemlu and all the martyrs of the Kurdistan Liberation Path.

“Yesterday, July 13, marked the 34th anniversary of the assassination martyrdom of the Kurdish legend Dr. Abdul Rahman Qasemlu and his friends in Vienna, Austria, the Kurdistan Diaspora Confederation extends its heartfelt condolences and respects. Dr. A. R. Ghassemlou, a prominent leader of the Kurdish nation and former General-Secretary of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI), along with his aide Abdullah Ghaderi-Azar, PDKI’s representative in Europe, fell victim to this heinous act.

We recognize that the Kurdish issue in the region, particularly in eastern Kurdistan and Iran, has not been subdued by their untimely deaths. On the contrary, the bloodshed of Dr. Qasimlo and his friends has ignited an unyielding flame within the Kurdish people, fueling their struggle for peace, freedom, democracy, and basic rights.

Today, we solemnly remember the latest martyrs, Siamand Shaboi, Adil Muhajir, and Luqman Aji, who were tragically taken from us. We offer our deepest condolences to the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, the families of these martyrs, and the entire Kurdish community. It is our firm belief that terrorism and murder, as history has shown, cannot halt the indomitable spirit of the Kurdish people. Instead, it fortifies their determination and resilience.

In light of this sorrowful anniversary, the Kurdistan Diaspora Confederation wishes to convey its unwavering support and active engagement. We stand united with all conferences, seminars, and demonstrations held abroad to honour the martyrs of Vienna, as we join hands in remembering their sacrifice and preserving their legacy.”
