Confederation: The Invaders of Kurdistan Could Not Stop the Referendum

On the anniversary of southern Kurdistan’s independence referendum, the Kurdistan Diaspora Confederation KDC released a statement saying, “Kurdish Diaspora continues to support the process of independence in a legitimate and democratic manner. The people of Kurdistan are united behind Masoud Barzani, President of the [Kurdish] Region, in the face of continuous attacks and threats by Turkey, Iran, Iraq, and Syria.”

Celebrating the Anniversary of the Independence Referendum of Kurdistan

On 25 September 2017, the people of Kurdistan made a historic decision to exercise their democratic right to hold a referendum on the self-determination of southern Kurdistan, with an overwhelming turnout of 93% of Aamam voters expressing their support for the Kurdistan Region’s independence.

This momentous event has been etched in the history of Kurdistan and symbolizes the commitment and pride of the people of the region. Despite the aggressive actions and threats of occupying states such as Turkey and Iran, as well as those of Iraq and Syria, the process of self-determination in southern Kurdistan has been able to move forward. This is a testament to the collective determination and determination of the people of Kurdistan under the leadership of President Barzani to bring the process to a successful conclusion.

On the occasion of the anniversary of the Referendum, the KDC expresses its strong support for the efforts of the various political parties and factions within Kurdistan, with the aim of achieving the ultimate objective of independence and freedom for the people of Kurdistan.
